Funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Grandparents Plus
has been working with the Department for Social Policy and Social Work
at the University of Oxford and with grandparents expert Geoff Dench to
explore where older people’s poverty and child poverty meet around
grandparental care. The interim report of this project includes an
analysis of British Social Attitudes Survey data from 1998 – 2007, was
published in June 2009 and can be found below.
The final report was launched on 2 March 2010 at a cross-party panel debate. This report focuses on the role grandparents play in
families who are particularly at risk of poverty; single
parent families, Black and Minority Ethnic families,
families with disabled children and/or disabled parents and grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. You can download a copy of the final report, executive summary and Grandparents Plus' policy response below and read the press release here. You can download the EHRC policy response here.
